Intersecting Curents logoDaemen College opened the fall 2011 semester by continuing a cultural exchange between visual arts faculty from Daemen and South China University of Technology, of Guangzhou, China. “Intersecting Currents” opened September 9 on the Daemen campus and represented the second step in the cross-cultural collaboration between Daemen and South China University of Technology. In December, 2009, students and faculty from the Daemen College Department of Visual and Performing Arts traveled to Guangzhou to begin the international exchange of art work. “This cultural exchange with the Chinese Academy is a natural way of furthering educational collaboration,” said Daemen President Dr. Edwin Clausen. “It also provides an opportunity for the work of Chinese artists to reach Daemen students, introducing an expanded artistic perspective on both sides. The collaboration is built to endure, selecting art as the communicative medium needed to bridge time, space, and culture.”
