During the spring semester U.S. Representative Kathy Hochul-D (26th District) spoke with Daemen students in a roundtable discussion on the need for low interest student loans for low and middle-income students who aspire to earn a college degree.

“It is crucial we keep college affordable for all our students,” she said. “Higher student loan interest rates combined with proposed cuts to Pell Grants would make a college education more difficult to finance for most students.” Following her discussion, Congresswoman Hochul co-sponsored legislation to lock in low student loan rates for Federal Stafford Student Loans. Hochul also voted to freeze student loan interest rates at 3.4% for one year.
