The Rosary Hill College Class of 1961’s reunion proved to have a theme: generosity.
On September 29th and October 1, 2011 Twenty-nine (29) members of the Rosary Hill College Class of 1961 reunited from around the country to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of their graduation. Friday’s activities included an intimate welcome reception in historic Rosary Hall where classmates could casually reconnect and reminisce. Saturday included a campus tour, highlighting the newly constructed Research and Information Commons and concluded with a complimentary meal among classmates, a few friends and the President of the College, Dr. Edwin Clausen.
Reunion committee chair, Joanne Rogers Szwejbka, was pleased to present Dr. Clausen with a gift from the class of 1961 to benefit the Daemen College Scholarship Fund. An astounding $4,000 was raised from 83% of the class- an impressive feat! As Sister Paula was celebrating a special birthday, the class presented their mentor and friend with a lovely birthday gift as well. The class of 1961 would like to thank Sister Gertrude Lacki ’70 for accompanying Sister Paula Fox to their reunion and for her wonderful company.
Many members of the class agreed that the highlight of Saturday evening was Sister Paula Fox’s presence and lovely address. Sister Paula’s remarks about the courage and commitment of the Sisters Of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity and the vision of the college in its infancy blended so well with the President’s remarks about the vision and growth of the college today; each vision committed to the needs of society.
Many thanks to the following graduates of the class of 1961 for either supporting the class gift and/or attending:
