The front profile of the campus, dramatically changed by the Research & Information Commons, will soon receive a second highly-anticipated new addition: The Daemen College Visual & Performing Arts Center. Construction on the center, which will bring the arts together in one campus location, has continued through the academic year. A grand opening is planned for early fall.
The Center will not only magnify the place of the arts at Daemen, but will also offer the public spaces for viewing art and attending lectures and performances. Inspired by the memory of the late Sr. Jeanne File, OSF, who established the Art Department at Rosary Hill College in 1948, the Center will include state-of-the-art technology to create a space where innovation, multi-disciplinary programs, and education can be experienced. The Daemen Visual & Performing Arts Center is designed with technology to realize another goal: achieving LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification as a “green” building.
“The Arts Center will give our faculty and students the physical space to reach great artistic heights.” – Dr. Laura Sommer, Director Visual and Performing Arts
