Daemen College is at an important moment in its 71-year history. We have experienced several years of forward momentum. We continue to be recognized nationally as a leader in high-quality teaching, as a veteran-friendly college, as a fit-friendly campus, and as a “great college to work for.” We consistently demonstrate that we are truly a college of national distinction. And just this year the New York State Education Department approved our new branch campus in Brooklyn, officially making Daemen a multi-campus college. This new campus will allow Daemen to grow in size, scope, and sophistication. This issue of Daemen Today is a snapshot of some of this progress.
In this issue, we highlight faculty-student collaborative research funded by our distinct Think Tank program. This initiative provides unique opportunities for students to learn, explore, and gain valuable, hands-on research experience on a range of projects while engaging with our talented faculty in a learning community that is one of the best in the nation. Students involved in this collaborative research gain vital skills as they pursue advanced degrees and in their professional field. This story highlights the academic edge we provide that is at the heart of the Daemen student experience.
Also in this issue is our Annual Report, a special section recognizing those who supported Daemen with gifts in 2017-18. Because of your commitment to Daemen and your belief in our students, you are helping to create life-changing educational opportunities and provide a first-rate academic environment critical to student success. On behalf of the entire Daemen community, I offer my sincerest thanks for your generous support this past fiscal year.
Last fall, we embarked on the public phase of our first-ever comprehensive campaign, “Drive to 75,” which aims to raise $22 million by the college’s 75th anniversary in 2022. This ambitious fundraising campaign will drive our institution forward, allowing us to continue to provide an exceptional and affordable education that is of great value to our students as they pursue their educational and professional goals.
The “Drive to 75” campaign helps make our hopes and aspirations for Daemen a reality, taking the college to the next level of excellence, all of which benefits our students. With your support, we will achieve the vision we have set for the college as we continue our long tradition of academic excellence. I am excited about what we can accomplish together with this campaign.
During this exciting period in Daemen’s history, we celebrate our rich academic legacy, progress, and successes. Daemen is strong, growing, and moving forward, and we look toward a bright future for our outstanding college.
With pride in Daemen,
Gary A. Olson
