Following the 2012 Academic Festival, Dr. Thabo T. Fako, Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana, and Director of Institutional Planning Dr. Phonan Jackalas were welcomed to the Daemen campus April 21-22. The back-to-back visits to Daemen represent the first stages of a collaboration between Daemen and the University of Botswana, centered on academic mutually beneficial programs.
“This visit is symbolic of the collaborative relationship that now exists between our two institutions,” said Daemen President Dr. Edwin Clausen. “Our partnership is wide-ranging, and involves faculty and student exchanges; research; teaching; and experiential programs beneficial to both the University of Botswana and Daemen.”

Also as part of the Daemen/University of Botswana collaboration, Lydia Saleshando, University of Botswana Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, visited Daemen for several days in May. While at Daemen, Professor Saleshando met administrators and staff, received a campus tour and orientation, and learned first-hand about Daemen service learning initiatives on Buffalo’s West Side and in the city’s Seneca Babcock neighborhood.
