Carol (Kane) Golyski, ’73, Medical Technology, received the New York State for Clinical Laboratory Science Servicer Award at the annual state meeting which was held in Farmingdale, NY. Carol was recently named Program Director of the Medical Technology Program at the University at Buffalo.
CORRECTION – Patricia (Coppola) Farrell, ’84, Medical Technology, was promoted to manager of lab services for diagnostic immunology at IMMCO Diagnostics. Patricia joined the company in 1989 and recently served as lab services supervisor.
Peter Lee Brodie, ’92, Administrative Study, accepted a position as a claims analyst at Albany Medical Center, after returning home to the great northeast. Just eight months later he was promoted to Team Leader and responsible for ten analysts billing Blues and HMO’s. Before January 2012, he was promoted to Supervisor for a team of senior claims analysts focused on payment trends and claim denials.
Jonathon Dean, ’01, Physical Therapy, is Director of Rehab at Alliance Healthcare Systems where he oversees 3 rehab facilities in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jacqueline Marie Schenk, ’01, Business Administration, opened “A Blooming Place Florist” in Tonawanda, NY and recently celebrated the 10th anniversary. Jacqueline absolutely loves being a small business owner and floral designer!
Susan (Robertson) Orton, ’04, Nursing, received a Master of Science in Nursing Education with a certificate in Adult Education from Westminster College in Utah. She works at the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration as the Staff Development Coordinator for Mental Health Services.
Amanda Lea Dickerman, ’06 & ’10, Early Childhood/Special Education, recently wrote and published a book about a dolphin with Autism titled “Dennis is Different: a story about autism and acceptance”. The book was written as a children’s story, however through the publishing process, the publisher suggested that the book could also be used as a teaching tool for use in a classroom setting in regards to other issues students face today (i.e. bullying).
Brooke M. Habberfield, ’06, Social Work, received her Masters in Human Services from Capella University in 2008 and also completed her MSW from Roberts Wesleyan College in May 2011. Brooke has accepted a position at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic as a Crisis Specialist in late 2011.
Genette Danyel Brooks, ’07, Human Resource Management, published a book titled “Any Time God”. It is a book of poetry about overcoming obstacles, believing in God through all trials and tribulations and finding true love and happiness in these last days through Christ Jesus the Lord. Genette is working on the publication of her second book “Tender Love Poems”. She is in a graduate program in Higher Education Administration working on a certificate as a paralegal and works with a job placement agency.
Kari Achatz, ’07 and Nick Napierala, ’09, art educators, have combined their art and teaching experiences with childhood memories to design an interactive installation Secret Spaces in the Useum™ inside the Burchfield Penny Art center in Buffalo. Visitors entering the Useum find themselves in a fantastical bedroom scene where guests are encouraged to write on furniture and investigate the installation, revealing hidden blankets and props. Guests are encouraged to build their own space or share a secret space with others by taking a photograph and adding it to the artist’s blog dedicated to imaginary play at the Useum.
